The biggest complaint I hear about natural deodorant is that it doesn’t work or will stop working after a while. Sure, not all natural deodorants are created equal, but the best trick to ensure you don’t go smelly is to detox your armpits, regularly. I know I know, just one more thing you’ve got to do now that you’re crunchy but I promise it’s not that bad, it’s even kinda fun. Consider it a spa treatment- Yay self care!
Armpit detox is how you have your (nontoxic) cake & eat it too
It’s hard to find any studies done on how/why/if armpit detoxes work, but there is a consensus that it shows results for many who try it. Understand that I am not a medical professional and be aware of any allergies before trying this- also do a test strip before if you are nervous how your skin will react. The detox includes apple cider vinegar, which is an antibacterial. This is what helps take the smell outta your pits (ironic, I know- how something that smells bad can make you smell good).
Make sure to not use any metal utensils to mix the mask.
Recipe:
1 tablespoon bentonite clay
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon water
I love also applying this as a face mask at the same time for a total spa treatment experience. Be aware that the underarm skin may be more sensitive and react differently than other parts of your body. Mine will sometimes get super red, I’ve learned to dilute the mask a bit more. & that’s it: mix and apply to the armpits/ face. I let it dry for about 20 mins and then shower it all off. Works wonders for my natural deodorant! I aim to do this once a week and end up actually doing it about once a month (mom life).
